Striking and exceptionally substantial Alexander Danel “Lovers” sculpture for Austin Productions, dated 1990, featuring a dramatically stylized couple intertwined in an intimate embrace.

At an impressive 20 inches tall, 12 inches wide and approximately 16 pounds, this is a commanding sculptural work with tremendous visual presence. Danel reduces the human figures into sweeping geometric planes and exaggerated curves, creating a composition that feels simultaneously romantic, architectural and distinctly modernist.

The intertwined bodies appear to flow into one another, while angular facial features, sharply modeled shoulders and broad abstracted forms give the sculpture wonderful Cubist and Art Deco-inspired character. It is particularly effective when viewed from different directions, with each angle revealing a completely different arrangement of curves, negative space and overlapping forms.

The sculpture has been fully restored and refinished in a sophisticated cement-gray tone using a textured sand acrylic finish that beautifully complements its stone-like Durastone construction. The surface has then been protected with a substantial non-yellowing, UV-resistant clear finish, designed to preserve its restored appearance for years to come.

The black base provides a dramatic contrast to the soft gray sculpture and emphasizes its gallery-like presentation. New protective felt has been added underneath, and the original Austin Productions identification label has been carefully preserved and reattached.

This sculpture is part of my ongoing restoration collection, created to preserve vintage decorative art and return deserving pieces to beautiful display condition. I have restored over 50 sculptures.

Any photographs showing furniture or additional décor are included only to demonstrate styling and scale. Only the sculpture is included with the purchase.

Returns policy

We have a 14-day return policy, which means you have 14 days after receiving your item to request a return.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags (if applicable) and in its original packaging.

Damages and issues
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

Exceptions / non-returnable items
Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on gift cards.

European Union 14 day cooling off period
Notwithstanding the above, if the merchandise is being shipped into the European Union, you have the right to cancel or return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without a justification. As above, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
