Rima (1919 - 2001) Who's real name was Eva Hannchen Rosenberg was a sculptor, jeweler and designer as well as a teacher. She studied at the Art Students League, the Pratt Institute, the Museum of Modern Art School, the Sculptor Center, the Educational Alliance and Preferred Casting of New York. Her work, publicized in magazines and newspapers such as Vogue, New York Magazine, The New Yorker, the New York Times and Interiors Magazine was widely exhibited. Her jewelry was mostly cast; she created a pair of cast sterling silver earrings for the Walker Exhibit in 1948. Rima taught wax casting at the Jewelry Workshop and Gallery of New York as well as the Abbey School of Jewelry Design in New York. She gave workshops in the "foil" method of stained glass making at Tiffany's in New York. She taught clay and wax modeling, mold making, and plaster casting in several different locations. She taught at Parson's School of Design in New York and the Jewelry Institute in Providence. Her sculptures were mostly nonrepresentational abstract works sometimes in a geometric cubist style and at other times, biomorphic; however she also made representational pieces. Rima was commissioned to design and make jewelry for manufacturers, stores and industry. Clients included The Metropolitan Museum, Cartier, Katram, Jad Jewelry and others. Some of her special sculpture commissions included relief portrait medallions of President John F Kennedy, Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr.,and a "Mother of the Year Award" sculpture. Rima created a commemorative plaque for the Anti-Defamation League which was presented to Eleanor Roosevelt and President Truman. She died in June 2001.
